About Public Wall
What is Public Wall?
Public Wall is a long-term, non-profit internet public project dedicated to building an open, ad-free, and sustainable space for public resources and community collaboration through three directions: Education, Welfare, and Technology. In the near future, we hope to create a truly public-facing digital space that prioritizes public value, ideas, and knowledge - in an increasingly fragmented and commercialized internet environment.
What we plan to do:
Public Wall will develop through two parallel technological paths: static and dynamic.
On the one hand, we will build stable, long-term referential public knowledge websites, such as commons and educational notes.
On the other hand, as conditions become mature, we will seek the opportunity to gradually develop a community-based platform to support collaborative editing, discussion, and joint maintenance. All content is based on the principle of openness and transparency; suspended projects are archived and retained, rather than simply deleted, thus forming a traceable long-term accumulation.
How we plan to operate:
Public Wall operates continuously at extremely low operating costs, prioritizing the use of open technologies and free infrastructure, without any commercially-oriented advertising for for-profit businesses, and without aiming for profit. The project plans to be primarily sustained through volunteer participation, community collaboration, and spontaneous donations.
All original content will be licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International license, ensuring that knowledge can be freely used, transmitted, and refined.
Our Vision Statement:
Public Wall is a project planned over a ten-year or even longer timeframe. By 2030, we hope it will become a lively, stable, and operational public platform with continuous content production.
We believe that truly valuable public internet projects should first learn to “exist long-term,” rather than pursuing short-term success.
Join our mission:
Whether you are a learner, creator, specialist, or simply someone who wants to create a better internet, you could always participate in the Public Wall in various ways: writing content, providing suggestions, co-maintaining the project, or simply as a long-term user and witness.
